This is my second Substack, a place where I do all of my writing (mostly interviews including photos, art, and video) of grassroots changemakers in Africa in the areas of climate change, sustainable agriculture, arts, education, income generation and food sustainability.
Steve Jones is a Welsh permaculture advocate, activist, and trainer. I've learned so much from him and met so many amazing people on the African continent thanks to him. His backstory of hitchhiking through Africa and finding himself in the process is incredible. He's also generous as all get-out.
Kathryn is a networker, collaborator, and creative who also curates Threadstack, a Substack directory of publications that are yarn art focused. Her posts are always chockful of recommendations for creative reads. When I don't know what to read, I go to Kathryn! You should too!
Amy's Illustrated Life Substack is the reason why I'm here on Substack. Her posts always make me think about the deeper meaning of life often through the simplest of subjects. I pulled of a months-long art journal process thanks to her. The community she has developed here on Substack is tight-knit and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Michael Shuman won't be mad at me (I hope) if I say he's been around for a long time talking abou community economic development at the grassroots level. I met him decades ago now, read his book, and invited him to Entrepreneurship Day at the Vermont Statehouse way back when. His digest of all things community investment is priceless. I PAY for this Substack. Really. I do.
